2025 was a year I never expected. I had just stepped away from the familiar rhythm of working life. Suddenly, I found myself jobless, not just professionally adrift, but spiritually dry too.
But looking back now, I can say this with full confidence that the career break I had was one of the best things that ever happened to me. Because in the stillness, God spoke.
When the Hustle Stops, the Heart Speaks

For the last few years, my life revolved around performance. I was always aiming for the next KPI, client pitch, social media posting or campaign launch. My identity quietly became tied to what I could achieve until it was all taken away.
When I no longer had a job title or schedule to hide behind, I was forced to face the deep questions I had inside me: Who am I without my work? What do I truly believe about God’s role in my life?
In that silence, I encountered Him again.
From Panic to Prayer

Initially, the anxiety was overwhelming. The uncertainty of not knowing where I was heading shook me. But as I leaned into prayer, I began to experience something unexpected: peace.
Through Scripture, worship, and stillness, God reminded me: “You are not what you do. You are Mine.”
What was supposed to be a time of confusion became a season of healing, realignment, and deep spiritual growth.
Provision in the Waiting

Despite the challenges, I was never truly lacking. God showed up in unexpected ways: it was through freelance work, financial provision through other means, supportive friends, and even the urge to pick up new skills like copywriting and artificial intelligence (AI).
Every open door, no matter how small, felt like His way of saying, “I’ve got you.”
Returning with a Renewed Spirit

Now, as I'm writing this at the tail end of July 2025, I’m back. I’ve just restarted my career in a small digital marketing agency and this time, I carry a different posture.
I’m no longer driven by hustle for the sake of identity. I’m driven by purpose. I now know better Who goes before me and Who sustains me, even in times of uncertainty.
The break didn’t set me back. It set me up.
Faith in the Future

This season taught me that waiting is not wasted when God is in the process. The career break was not a detour, it was a divine appointment.
If you’re in a similar place between jobs, wrestling with direction, or feeling forgotten, lost or tired & weary altogether, I want to tell you: God sees you. He’s not done with your story. Sometimes, when everything stops, Heaven begins to move.
"Be still, and know that I am God." Psalms 46:10
Whether you're building your career, exploring new paths, or just trying to hold on, know this: you’re not walking alone.
Let God write your next chapter. I’m grateful He’s writing mine.
